HISTORY

Madison West has a long and successful history in Boy's soccer. Madison West has appeared in 11 State tournaments and has won three, including back-to-back titles in 1987 and 1988, and has been runner-up twice, in 1986 and 1990. The team advanced to the State tournament in 2008, 2013, and 2017. The team had an amazing run through the 2017 playoffs - earning a spot in the WIAA Division 1 State Tournament. Although the team lost in the semi-finals, they succeeded where no other Madison West team (in any sport) had before when the Soccer Team was awarded the Fall State Tournament Sportsmanship Award.

CHRIS VASQUEZ LEADERSHIP AWARD

Chris Vasquez was the soccer coach at West for 21 years and also taught Spanish at the high school, before his death in 2014. During his coaching career he amassed a record of 352 wins, 112 losses and 56 ties. Chris's teams won 8 conference championships and qualified for the WIAA State Soccer Tournament 5 times, including an appearance in the 2013 State final. His record was an unsurpassed standard in West's 84 year history. The Chris Vasquez Leadership Award recognizes a male West Student Athlete who embodies leadership.
